This custom stainless steel storage rack was fabricated for a mobile home in Costa Mesa, CA. The homeowner wanted additional storage above the washer and dryer, but mounting shelves to the walls wasn't the best option for the space.

Instead, we built a freestanding rack that fits around the appliances and provides two levels of storage without relying on the walls for support.

Why was a freestanding rack the better choice?

The laundry room walls were primarily drywall, so installing heavy shelves would have required drilling into the wall and placing the weight of stored items on the mounting hardware. A freestanding design avoided that altogether.

By supporting itself, the rack provides a sturdy place to store laundry supplies while helping protect the walls from unnecessary holes and added stress.

 

The Welding & Metal Fabrication Process

Every custom project starts with careful measurements. Once the dimensions were finalized, the stainless steel was cut, fitted, and welded to match the available space.

The finished rack fits neatly around the washer and dryer, making use of the open area above the appliances while keeping everything easy to reach.
